Skateboard Girl: The Exhibition Park at 9am

In 2020, skateboarding will no longer be a niche sport, almost every city has a skateboard park, many children will own a skateboard, and parents will encourage their children to do more than just play football.
However, even then there are a few women skateboarders. In other words, in an age of skateboarding acceptance and popularity, female skaters are the only ones who are not the mainstream.

Rosie Gathercole, a 20-years-old student at Newcastle University. She started skateboarding at the age of 12, and she came to the park almost every day except when it rained, so skateboarding has become a part of her life.

Rosie thinks Skateboarding is a creative sport that requires an individual to imagine all the terrain. Ordinary people without think too much when they walk along a road, while the skateboarder will think how to use the skateboard to slide through, and the same road achieved infinite possibilities, and she said:

“even if it’s a boring slope, for a skateboarder, it makes you think about what you can do with the slope.”

She will discuss with friends how the road can be more fun to skate, if they are interested, they will also take time to go live skating.

In this default male-dominated skateboarding sport, girls are often not treated fairly. the most people think, girls are inherently weak and not suited to skateboarding, a sport that tests their physical strength, endurance and explosive power.

Even if they want to play skateboarding, the best they can do is go streets and pose for photos, if they are going to be competition, they don’t have much to look at.

However, skateboarding was never just for boys, and Rosie says:

“If someone treats you as an outcast, just slide away smartly and leave them with a stubborn back.”

With skateboarding joining the Olympic program, it is encouraging more women to join skateboarding in a fair and just competitive environment.

The figures show that from 2015 to 2020, skateboarding girls received slightly more attention from the public than skateboarding boys. It can be seen that girls skateboarding is gradually accepted by the public, and skateboarding is also popular among girls.

Therefore, the future of girls skateboarding there are many possible, looking forward to the future can be in the park or at the scene to see more women skateboarding figure.

Please keep on skating, Skateboard girls don’t give yourself up to the world of prejudice and take action to change the world’s view of you guys.
