Skateboarding into the Olympics, but these kids are worried about “losing their freedom.”

Skateboarding has been officially recognized as one of the five new sports at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which means that skateboarding, traditionally seen as entertainment, now has an Olympic aura.

The title “professional skateboarder” is still a bit of a foreign concept in the UK. Unlike other mainstream sports, most skateboarders play mostly on their own, with no specific coach and no national team as a career goal.

There’s no doubt that skateboarding has brought more resources to the program, but Jacob Steadman, 15-years-old, says many people don’t want to be professional, which goes against the sense of freedom of skateboarding itself. He said:

“We just do it by ourselves, and we don’t have a professional coach for skateboarding. “

He practices by himself every day after class at the Skate Park, which is where most of the skateboarding takes place. He said:

“It’s just playing by yourself and then playing with other skateboarders. If you see something that you can’t do, you can imitate it or learn it by watching computer videos.”

In fact, there are countless people across the country who like or can skateboard, but not many who have the courage to make a living out of it.

Social and cultural misunderstanding of skateboarding is one of the reasons why skateboarding has not been popularized in the world for a long time.

Compared with many traditional sports, this kind of sports is really something else. Some parents may wonder why you can’t study, or why you can’t play sports like basketball and soccer.

Josh Wales, 15, said that when he first learned to Skateboard as a child, adults were often heard saying this is too dangerous a sport for a child to play.

Skateboarding into the Olympics is actually a kind of recognition of the sport, but also hope that it gradually accepted by the public.

However, many skateboarders are a little worried about their skateboarding going into the Olympics. Josh says:

“I was really worried about what it would be like once skateboarding entered the system: to be sent to a training center by my parents as a child? Developing dangerous new moves in preparation for the Olympics? I don’t like being told what to practice every day in order to win gold medals.”

In fact, many people do not want to be so-called professional athletes, feel that this is contrary to the skateboard itself that sense of freedom.

Does fashion have to be for the younger generation? Newcastle’s 68 years old fashion grandpa

For a long time, when talking about street labels and fashion, people always have young faces in their minds. These seem to be the exclusive topics of young people. However, is fashion just for the young generation?

Fashion labels are not really niche culture, they are breaking the boundaries with high fashion, and gradually become the mainstream street fashion.

It is highly praised by the contemporary young people in the global street culture dissemination increasingly accelerated wave.

However, there is a common misconception that fashion is the business of young people.

It is undeniable that young people are in the majority, but fashion and street labels are belonging all ages, whether you are 90 or 10 years old, you can follow trends and fashions. It’s an attitude. It’s a pursuit of a better life.

Doug Ellison, 68years old who is the owner of seven tide shop in Newcastle and has run them for 33 years since 1987.

Doug said that the reason why he opened the tide shop because of his love for street culture, and he thinks those tide shop that originate from street culture are bolder in design, can fully express his personality, and then opened his path to fashion.

Back to the birth of street culture, it is due to the differences between race, nationality, region, culture, they collide with each other, and merge to nurture music, art and clothing.

So, in this context there are young people and street trends that are not against the grain, whereas stooped old people in fashionable clothes seem a bit rebellious.

Doug said: “in fact, hipster elder are a normal part of fashion culture, fashion has no age, just whether you love it.”

However, the trend today is full of following and showing off, and this phenomenon has affected the nature of the trend. Doug said,

“fashion isn’t just about clothes, it’s about pure love, and that’s why I started this store.”

Fashion is not just about supreme, Stussy and other brands that are hot today, it’s about a way of life, a blend of attitude, passion, choice, cognition and other elements of the blend.

Fashion is not Forever 21, fashion is Forever Young. Young people in the pursuit of fashion, but also hope achievement is the love of their heart.

Skateboard Girl: The Exhibition Park at 9am

In 2020, skateboarding will no longer be a niche sport, almost every city has a skateboard park, many children will own a skateboard, and parents will encourage their children to do more than just play football.
However, even then there are a few women skateboarders. In other words, in an age of skateboarding acceptance and popularity, female skaters are the only ones who are not the mainstream.

Rosie Gathercole, a 20-years-old student at Newcastle University. She started skateboarding at the age of 12, and she came to the park almost every day except when it rained, so skateboarding has become a part of her life.

Rosie thinks Skateboarding is a creative sport that requires an individual to imagine all the terrain. Ordinary people without think too much when they walk along a road, while the skateboarder will think how to use the skateboard to slide through, and the same road achieved infinite possibilities, and she said:

“even if it’s a boring slope, for a skateboarder, it makes you think about what you can do with the slope.”

She will discuss with friends how the road can be more fun to skate, if they are interested, they will also take time to go live skating.

In this default male-dominated skateboarding sport, girls are often not treated fairly. the most people think, girls are inherently weak and not suited to skateboarding, a sport that tests their physical strength, endurance and explosive power.

Even if they want to play skateboarding, the best they can do is go streets and pose for photos, if they are going to be competition, they don’t have much to look at.

However, skateboarding was never just for boys, and Rosie says:

“If someone treats you as an outcast, just slide away smartly and leave them with a stubborn back.”

With skateboarding joining the Olympic program, it is encouraging more women to join skateboarding in a fair and just competitive environment.

The figures show that from 2015 to 2020, skateboarding girls received slightly more attention from the public than skateboarding boys. It can be seen that girls skateboarding is gradually accepted by the public, and skateboarding is also popular among girls.

Therefore, the future of girls skateboarding there are many possible, looking forward to the future can be in the park or at the scene to see more women skateboarding figure.

Please keep on skating, Skateboard girls don’t give yourself up to the world of prejudice and take action to change the world’s view of you guys.

What do Young Skateboarders Think of Skateboarding in the Olympics?

Skateboarding, surfing, rock climbing, baseball and karate have been voted into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but the idea of skateboarding into the Olympics has stirred up a lot of discussion.

Many people do not define skateboarding as a sport, especially the young people it is more like a way of showing off their lifestyle.

Skateboarding is often associated with youth, rebellion and irresponsibility, but skateboarders do not seem to care much about such comments.

Liam Okey, 20-years-old, who has been skateboarding since he was 15, and he said:

“My parents were not very supportive when I first started skateboarding, and most of my classmates chose to play football instead of skateboarding. Even so, I didn’t give up.”

“When I started skateboarding, I never thought skateboarding would make it to the Olympics. Later, with the development of individual skills, people would joke about what would happen if skateboarding entered the Olympic Games one day. Of course, I didn’t expect this day to come.”

About skateboarding joining the Olympic Games, he said,

“first of all, I will be very happy to the skateboard join the Olympic Games, it is a good thing that this sport can be recognized and accepted by more people, skateboarding has always been a hobby of mine.”

“I will be very concerned and look forward to watching the Olympic skateboarding games in due course, and I will continue to go skateboarding in the future. I hope that skateboarding can enter a new era through the Olympic Games, skateboarders can also do better.”

Tom Henning. Photograph: ZHIXIN LIN

Tom Henning, a 19-year-old law student from Newcastle University, when he first started skateboarding, he thought it was an extreme sport, and he wanted to challenge the extreme movements one by one, so he fell in love with skateboarding. He said:

“Now skateboarding into the Olympic Games, I think it is a leap. There will be more programs to support or train or even compete, and there will be more opportunities for young people like me.

Secondly, I think that the introduction of Skateboarding, a more enjoyable sport, will attract more young fans to pay attention to the Olympic Games.”

Skateboarding still has its own characteristics, regardless of whether to join the Olympic Games, it is a very cool sport.

He said: “now the Olympic skateboarding competition, I hope it can develop as well as basketball, but also keep its cool, street side.”

When we talk about whether skateboarding is a good thing or a bad thing to get into the Olympics, we tend to think of skateboarding as a small, street-only sport.

Predictably, more debate will continue when skateboarding officially makes its debut at the Tokyo Olympics.

And to be sure, no one can stop the masses from pursuing cooler things.

Welcome

Hi guys, my name is Jessy, and I’m going to start a fashion blog, it different from the traditional fashion blogs, and this is about the expression of subculture in fashion.

Subculture refers to the idea and lifestyle, such as hip-hop, graffiti, skateboard and so on, which belong to a certain region or group under the background of the main culture.

The subculture not only contains the values and concepts which are similar to the main culture, but also has its own unique values and concepts.

In fact, subcultures are not divided by age group, but by context, in which groups come together because of their commonalities and then intersect.

Although “post-90s” cannot be equated with sub-cultural groups, but on the other hand, sub-culture must also be avant-garde, unique and trendy, so it is still the overwhelming majority of young people.

Now, more and more young people like this subculture, which has also contributed to the rise of trendy brands such as Supreme, Stussy. There is no denying that the emergence of subcultures has made society more pluralistic.

Therefore, if you’re interested in them, check out my blog and with me to explore how skateboarding, graffiti, dreadlocks, and other trends in culture and art make sense.

I’m going to take you on a tour of the trendy culture of the north east of England and perhaps discover more by talking to the artists in the studio.

You can expect to join me in later blogs to find out what people of different ages and countries think about this subculture? And how Fashion brands have been linked to sub-culture, such as how sub-culture affects people, especially young people’s clothing and other topics.

So, that’s pretty much it. Please look forward to my next post!
